Silvera for Seniors is currently hiring. We are looking for a Casual Dinning Attendant for one of our Supportive Living Communities, homed at our Shouldice Commons Community, located @4730 - 19 Ave NW.

FUNCTION
Reporting to the Culinary Supervisor, the Dining Attendant is responsible to provide support services to the kitchen in the preparation and delivery of food.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible to serve meals and beverages in a polite and professional manner.
• Responsible for the daily/weekly clearing, cleaning and setting up of the dining room and staff room.
• Responsible for the daily/weekly food preparation and clean-up duties in the kitchen as scheduled and directed by the Supervisor.
• Completes documentation of required tasks.
• Responsible for the setup, delivery and cleanup of the coffee area between meals.
• Reports resident concerns to the Culinary Supervisor or Community Manager.
• Responsible to act in the capacity of a Cook as requested.
• Participates in and promotes Silvera’s Health and Safety program. Reports any safety issues to the Community Manager or designate and is knowledgeable in emergency procedures and can act accordingly.
• Responsible to account for all residents at meal times as required and reports any unexplained absences to the Culinary Supervisor or Community Manager.
• Responsible for the overall security and safety of the community and residents during the assigned shift.
• Resolves any emergency situations which may arise and completes all paperwork and follows procedures as required during the assigned shift.
• Reports any unsafe work conditions to the Community Manager or designate.
• Responsible to assist with the receiving and stocking of all food, non-food supplies and chemicals.
• May be responsible for performing housekeeping duties.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Must possess a high standard of hygiene and personal appearance
• Must have a flexible, willing and positive attitude
• Must have good communication skills, both oral and written
• Must have WHMIS and, Food Handling courses, and may be required to hold First Aid certification
• Must be well organized and have the ability to problem solve
• Must be able to relate well with seniors
• Must be willing to attend courses as requested by Silvera

HOURS OF WORK

7:00 am – 3:30 pm or 10:30 am – 7:00 pm.

• Rotational shift work required, including weekends

Must be able to accommodate the "CASUAL EMPLOYMENT MODEL" as outlined below.

• Casual employees will not have any guaranteed work hours each pay period and will be called to work when needed. The Employee Scheduler will send emails to multiple staff offering same shifts, in order to get shifts covered right away. Shifts are first come first served thus the reason no guaranteed hours.
Casual employee must have availability to work at a minimum of 4 days per week including some weekends
• Casual employee must be willing to work (and be trained) in multiple positions
• Casual employee must be willing to work and support all Silvera Communities in all quadrants of Calgary
• Casual employee must work minimum shifts and must not refuse to take shifts offered without a valid reason and approval. Casual employee’s employment, after three refusals to take up shift(s) or for not working any shift(s) within 3 months, may be terminated with Silvera for Seniors due to “abandonment of position”
• Casual employee must report any time off request to the Employee Scheduler at least 2 weeks in advance.
• Casual employees are not entitled to any benefits other than vacation pay.
